RE: the Donna documentary, I watched it and was honestly a bit underwhelmed. It was well-done aesthetically, but I wanted more from some of the stories. They also left a bunch of stuff out. As essential as Donna is to the genre and music in general, you need to expand your disco oeuvre beyond her as there’s a lot of great stuff.
Did you see the documentary on her life (directed by her daughter if I remember correctly)? It’s excellent and shows how much she had to deal
with as a woman and mother in the music industry of the 70s and 80s.
