Cars will always be his hit, but as an album, Telekon will always be my fave. Still holds up decades later.

At the time I was a dedicated Bowie fan, and we all chose to despise Numan as a ripoff clone. 45 years later, I'm willing to admit that Cars is a good song.

As another dedicated Bowie fan, I'll give you a pass on that one ;)

What’s amazing is his latest music is just as awesome. His work with Ade Fenton revitalized his song writing and sounds.

This song is where '80s synth-rock begins...

An instant classic as they used to say. I have spent many a long law work Friday listening to every song on Pleasure Principle on my iPod only Apple item i ever owned waiting until the end live tracks especially the chilling Bombers. I even took a stab at Cars in the studio one night as they had a suitable synth that had THAT SOUND!!! It's all terribly complex and layered, worthy of post-modenist analysis. Never gets old and predicts the future better than any hard beat techno could evet muster. Sorry Maia. Good going mate another scorcher!

A song which I will never not listen to. The tambourine on the "chorus" is what always gets me, it's such a touch. A perfectly crafted song.

Indeed, couldn't agree more, thanks Jamie!

Love this song! It was one of the first "new wave" records to get a lot of airplay in the U.S. The sound was SO original for its time.

The concept of originality is overrated IMO, but this one is seriously a 1/1. Thanks as always, Dan. :)

I can't thing of another song that is such a clear representation of a particular time. Lovely piece, thanks!
